Hello and thank you for your interest in my background. I’m proud to say I’m from the Show Me State where skepticism is a virtue and hard work is a way of life. Growing up in a large, working-class family in Missouri taught me that actions speak louder than words. In high school, the United States Marine Corps honored me with the Distinguished Athlete Award for demonstrating exceptional leadership on the football field as captain of the team. During that time I was also recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar and won a Bright Flight Scholarship to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia where I earned my B.A. in English and Religious Studies in 1994.
In 1997 I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, passed the bar and immediately started my own law firm so I could devote 100% of my practice to representing the powerless and standing up for society’s most vulnerable. I am privileged that I have been able to continue using my professional skills on behalf of those seeking justice against larger, wealthier opponents ever since. As an attorney who has fought to preserve and protect the rights of my clients in the face of overwhelming odds for my entire career, I am acutely aware of the uphill battle that people are faced with when they have suffered an injury or a loss and are forced to deal with sophisticated insurance companies who want to close out the claims as quickly and cheaply as possible.
I understand that when someone chooses an attorney he or she is placing an enormous amount of trust in that lawyer.
