Meet Our Attorneys
Hello, my name is Colleen Tuohy-Fleming, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read my biography.
My passion is helping my clients achieve justice. Even before I became an attorney, I knew I wanted to help people. After graduating Simmons College in Boston, MA, I joined Americorps Water Watch program, where I devoted myself to helping clean up Massachusetts waterways and ensuring that all Massachusetts citizens had clean water.
After working for Americorps, I was certain that I wanted to dedicate my life to serving my community, so I decided to go to law school. I earned my law degree from Florida State. While in law school, I interned at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid’s Fair Housing department, where I helped protect clients from housing discrimination, and I worked for a small firm in Tallahassee, FL, where l obtained experience in the field of personal injury law. I also interned for the Office of the Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals department, where I sought to protect victims’ rights and see that justice was served.
Before joining Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys, I spent eight years working for the Orlando Public Defender’s Office. There I defended indigent citizens against the government and tried over 60 trials ranging from misdemeanors to capital felonies. I climbed the ranks at the Public Defender’s Office, eventually being promoted to a lead attorney, which meant that I primarily handled serious felony cases, where many of my clients were facing life in prison. Previously board certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar, I’ve continued my dedication to fighting for my clients. This required numerous references including judges and other lawyers in the community, a review of cases I had tried, and a day long exam. I am one of the few lawyers in Florida that can say I became an expert in this area of law.
Today, as a part of Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys, I pursue justice on behalf of those who were injured by the negligence of others. I love helping people. My core belief is that, as an attorney, every person is entitled to zealous, aggressive representation.
