Hello, my name is Mychal J. Katz, and I appreciate you taking the time to read my biography. I am a Florida native. Upon graduating from high school in Jacksonville, I earned a full academic scholarship to the University of Florida, and graduated with honors. During my time at the University of Florida, I was elected by my peers to the Student Honor Court. Thus, my passion to uphold the rule of law, and to seek justice for the innocent, has never wavered since college. Following undergrad, I attended law school at Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, graduating with honors. During law school, I enjoyed the experience of a lifetime by spending a summer semester at the Universidad de Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Not only did I gain valuable insight into South American culture and everyday life, but I also saw firsthand the upside and downside of the justice system. My time in Buenos Aires, along with my weekend excursions to Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil while studying abroad, heightened my inherent belief that the less fortunate and the injured should be entitled to legal representation regardless of their level of education or lack of financial resources. As my first job out of law school, I had the privilege of serving as a federal judicial law clerk for 1.5 years for the Honorable George L. Proctor at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida in Jacksonville. My experience with Judge Proctor reinforced my ongoing desire to help people during their most trying times, and to give them a much needed fresh start. After my clerkship, I worked for a large corporate law firm in downtown Orlando for about 10 years, earning my way to partnership in the firm, during this time I focused on both state and federal litigation often being recognized for tenacious and fierce trial and litigation skills. I believed in my clients and their right to the very best legal counsel, I never wanted to let my clients down, literally I worked 24-7 for my clients and today I am proud to have brought all that I have learned and my winning attitude to Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys, my clients are always first and my goal remains the same to get you and your family the justice you deserve.
