Hello, I am Jay Cooper. Thank you for taking the time to read my biography. I am a native of Florida, born and raised in Tampa. I graduated from the University of South Florida and Stetson University College of Law. I worked full-time while attending law school, so I understand the challenge that many people face, balancing work, family, and school. Experience has shaped me into the attorney that I am today.
Prior to becoming a plaintiff attorney, I worked as an auto injury adjuster for two of the largest insurance companies. After years of being told by my superiors to pay injured people as little as possible, I realized that this was not how I wanted to spend the rest of my career, and I decided to become a plaintiff attorney and fight for injured people whose lives have been permanently changed through no fault of their own. My background as an auto injury adjuster gave me a unique perspective on insurance companies’ tactics and strategies to avoid compensating injured people.
Insurance companies do everything they can to minimize the value of your claim and hire attorneys to help them toward that end. Insurance companies are happy to take your insurance premium payment but will cancel your policy if you are unable to pay your bill. However, when it comes time for them to pay you for your injuries, they will fight you every step of the way.
Having seen the dark side of injury claims, my desire to help injured people get compensated grew into my passion.
