Hello, my name is Dustin Smith, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read my biography. I was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri, but relocated to New York City when I was 20 to pursue an under graduate degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. While at John Jay and with hopes of becoming a Psychologist I was selected for an internship at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. From my first week at the District Attorney’s office I knew I would be making a career switch, and practicing law was going to be in my future. Shortly thereafter I attended CUNY School of Law in Queens, NY and never looked back.
After graduation, my wife and I decided to start a family and what better place to do this then Central Florida. After arriving here I started my legal career in criminal defense, representing indigent clients who found themselves facing the absolute power of the government but with limited financial resources to hire an attorney. I fought tirelessly to ensure that every one of their constitutional rights were protected. It was here I discovered that my true passion was to help people in need of legal help and stand by their side during one of the most difficult times in their lives and do everything I can to ensure their rights were being protected and their voice was heard.
